Review: Portable Sound with the Bluetooth Splash Speaker

Though I don’t mind enjoying a bit of peace and quiet every now and then, time is precious and I want to make use of those gaps in the day when I could be doing something productive and/or enjoyable with my time. For example, when I take my morning walks or have to drive long distances, I listen to audio books, which has allowed me to “read” a lot more books than I’d normally be able to tackle.

When I was given the opportunity to test and review the Bluetooth Splash Speaker sold by UncommonGoods, I jumped at the chance because I saw it as an opportunity to use my spare time wisely. Yes, I still own my old boombox and I actively use it to play my dusty collection of CDs, but it’s not very helpful with digital technology or for use when I travel.

When this speaker arrived, we started using it while cooking dinner in the evenings or cleaning the house. We’re bounding through a backlog of podcasts with this little guy, and it’s easy to provide some decent-sounding background music while we’re camping.

Some of my favorite features of this speaker:

  • It’s small—no bigger than a coaster, though about an inch wide—so it’s easy to transport.
  • It’s splash proof, so I have no fears using it in the bathroom. It will be perfect to take on our next trip to the beach!
  • It’s got excellent sound! Some products like these can sound a bit tinny or muddled, but I’m really impressed with how clear the sound is with this speaker.
  • It’s charged via a USB-to-micro cord, so no batteries are needed. And the charge lasts for a very long time!

In addition to being a big fan of the Bluetooth Splash Speaker, it’s worth noting a little something about the company that sent it to me, UncommonGoods. This privately-owned company sells a variety of products ranging from unique and interesting birthday gifts to personalized products (poking through this page alone, I’ve fallen in love with the ampersand serving board and the literary scarf … and those are just a few of the products featured!).

But here’s what’s so great about UncommonGoods: All of its products are created in harmony with the environment and without harm to people or animals. Half of what is sold by this company is made by hand, and one-third of the products incorporate recycled or upcycled materials. Additionally, with every purchase, the company donates $1 to a charity. Since starting this program 12 years ago, more than $700,000 has been donated to charities around the world.

Even though my Bluetooth Splash Speaker doesn’t necessarily qualify as one of the unique artist creations, I absolutely love the product (for family trips and use around the house), and I can get behind what UncommonGoods as a whole stands for. It’s the perfect combination.

This product was provided to me free of charge to review but all opinions are my own. There are affiliate links in this post.
